Kankakee City Council met March 16, 2026. Council approved several ordinances and resolutions — including a temporary cut to the municipal garbage fee, multiple liquor licenses, sidewalk/roadway contracts and a $2 million state-funded shelter project — and spent much of the meeting on tornado recovery, contractor permitting and resident assistance after recent storm damage.
