At the March 19, 2026 Bakersfield Planning Commission meeting, the commission approved a conditional use permit and zone modification to allow two pickleball courts and a soccer field at Saint Demiana Coptic Orthodox Church while commissioners and neighbors debated fence height, lighting hours and neighborhood impacts.
