Detroit City Council held a formal session Oct. 7, 2025, that honored outgoing ombudsman Bruce Simpson, recognized community leaders including Amy Goode and Tyra Moore, heard more than an hour of public comment on topics from plastic-bag rules to alleged election irregularities, approved a resolution to seek repeal of Michigan Public Act 389, and carried a broad set of contract and personnel actions including the appointment of a new ombudsman.
