Mayor called the meeting to order and Councilmember Peterson read a Nisenan land acknowledgement noting the tribe remains present and is seeking federal recognition.
The Nevada City Council met April 8, 2026. Council recognized the Nisenan tribe, proclaimed April Arts, Culture and Creativity Month, approved a construction contract (item 6), moved forward with an update to accessory dwelling unit (ADU) regulations to conform with state law, and heard an update on the State Route 49 multimodal corridor where officials said the project is roughly $5 million over the grant award and some elements will be removed or revised after community feedback.
