The Ketchikan Gateway Borough Assembly on March 16, 2026, held a lengthy public hearing on a rezone request by the Ketchikan Indian Community for the former Salmon Falls Resort; the assembly voted to advance rezoning of the main resort parcels (Track C / ATS 502) to General Commercial while recommending denial of rezoning for two residential lots, and set a second public hearing. Dozens of residents and tribal leaders gave testimony for and against the proposal. The meeting also included routine board-of-equalization business and a university workforce-development update.
