Meeting called to order; student Carter Romero from Warren Elementary presented the land acknowledgement naming the Tohono O'odham Nation and Pascua Yaqui tribe and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Board vice chair/covering official welcomed attendees and introduced the student speaker.
The Tucson Unified School District Governing Board met April 14 to hear the superintendents report, public comment on staffing and program proposals, a presentation on a Palo Verde High School pilot to move to a four-day school week, information about the districts use of voter-approved override dollars for CTE and preschool scholarships, and a legal overview of the statutory process for school closure/consolidation. Several consent and action items passed, including hiring and bond-related implementation.
