Hernando County Board of County Commissioners met April 14, 2026. Commissioners heard a Florida Fish and Wildlife presentation about gopher tortoise biology and permitting, reinstated a countywide burn ban, received extensive public comment (notably on a BookPage library subscription and a large commercial development adjacent to Brookridge senior community), approved a package of routine procurement items, and directed staff to begin preparing a roads-funding referendum and other follow-ups.
