The Senate Finance Subcommittee for the Department of Corrections met April 16 to close out the FY27 corrections budget; the subcommittee forwarded the operating budget to the full Senate Finance Committee, approved a 50% reduction to the house ad for community and regional jails, added intent language to seek information on housing inmates outside Alaska, and recommended funding for an independent cost-driver study.
