The New Britain Common Council held a special meeting May 28, 2025, where public commenters urged the council to keep the proposed modest property-tax cut from reducing funding for schools, the public library and housing services. Councilmembers approved an amendment reallocating funds to education and the library and then adopted the general, special revenue and capital budgets; votes were split 8-7 on the amended general fund budget.
