Dayton City council held a work session to review options, costs and trade-offs for supplying the South Dayton water system as its 2006 contract with Maple Grove approaches expiration in 2036. Staff laid out four scenarios (build Dayton-only, 50/50, Maple Grove supplies 100%, or a delayed/mixed outcome), cost estimates and funding choices and warned that Maple Grove's potential plan to add lime softening could sharply raise resident water rates.
