Chair Simmons opened the meeting and read a land acknowledgement recognizing the ancestral lands of the Weat tribe (called Guden in the Wii out language) and the city’s intent to acknowledge past removal and harms to indigenous communities.
The Arcata City Planning Commission on April 28, 2026 approved a design-review permit allowing renovation and unification of two storefronts (All Under Heaven) at 725 and 735 8th Street and adopted an updated 2026 Capital Improvement Program list for planning and future funding. Commissioners and staff discussed historic-preservation standards, accessibility upgrades and several proposed CIP projects including water‑system work and a placeholder for trail funding.
