Chair Chestnut opened the Oct. 7 MTPO meeting and proposed amendments to the agenda: add a Transportation Improvement Program amendment as item 1a and move consent items CA‑3 and CA‑4 to new items 2a and 2b so the City of Gainesville can discuss them.
MTPO (Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization) met Oct. 7 to amend the Transportation Improvement Program to add two FDOT projects, adopt vision/principles for the 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan with minor edits, authorize deferral of two consultant solicitations, and vote to exercise the 60‑day termination clause of its staff services agreement with the Regional Planning Council to create a steering committee and seek transition options. FDOT presented updates on multiple projects including a concept for State Road 26 that the board approved to advance with partial parking removal and multiuse sidewalks.
