County Judge opened the regularly scheduled Ellis County Commissioners Court, confirmed a quorum and cited the Texas Open Meetings Act (Texas Government Code Chapter 551). Commissioner Kyle Butler led the invocation and the pledges.
Ellis County Commissioners Court met Feb. 3, 2026. The court recognized the 100th anniversary of the Women’s Building, approved routine consent and multiple purchasing items (including sole-source and fuel contracts), approved a variance for a 20-acre subdivision, adopted a political-signs policy for county polling places (amended to define overnight parking and to remove a misdemeanor provision), approved a symbolic sister-county agreement with a Czech region, and approved placement of a commemorative bench on the courthouse grounds. The court held an executive session on pending TCEQ/municipal utility district matters and damage to the Ellis County Central building and took no final action on the Central Building agenda item.
