The Austin City Council held a work session May 5, 2026 that included briefings and public comment on a proposed citywide density bonus program, a major encampment-management plan and an extended public comment period on the proposed consolidation of city IT staff ("1 ATS"). Council heard hours of testimony from residents, service providers and city employees and questioned staff on program details, metrics and staffing.
