The House Corrections & Institutions Committee reviewed proposed amendments to S.193 to define and plan a state forensic facility for competency restoration, debated whether the Department of Corrections should provide security or be excluded, and asked for a feasibility plan due Jan. 1, 2027. Committee members and executive-branch commissioners disagreed on timing, scope and who should operate or secure the facility.
