The Racine Unified School District governance committee reviewed proposed interpretations and indicators for reading, writing and a new oral language indicator, debated whether the oral language metric should apply only to grades K–3 or to all students, raised concerns about measurement and equity, and agreed to add a clarifying change (K–3) to the consent agenda. Minutes from the 05/04/2026 meeting were approved 7–0.
