The Bennington Select Board voted 6-1 to place a 1% local option sales, meals & alcohol, and rooms tax (as a single combined question) on the Nov. 3, 2026 ballot and to mail the state-prepared ballot to all active, not-challenged Town of Bennington voters. The board heard public comment raising concerns about the ballot language and the lack of designated uses for revenue; the board said policy and public outreach will follow prior to the vote.
