Blaine County is located in north-central Montana, along the Canadian border. As of the 2020 census, the population was 7,044. The county seat is Chinook. The county is characterized by rolling prairies, the Bears Paw Mountains, and the Little Rocky Mountains. The Fort Belknap Indian Reservation, home to the Assiniboine and Gros Ventre tribes, occupies a significant portion of the southeastern part of the county. Agriculture is the primary industry in Blaine County, with farming and ranching being the most common occupations. Key crops include wheat and barley, and livestock ranching is also prevalent. The main employers on the Fort Belknap Reservation are the Gros Ventre and Assiniboine tribes. Aaniiih Nakoda College is located on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation.
