The commission also discussed cold-weather sheltering, demolition work and traffic-calming measures.

At their Jan. 17 meeting the Lorain County Board of Commissioners approved a slate of routine motions and contract awards ranging from personnel and salary adjustments to road projects and grants; all motions listed on the public agenda were approved in roll-call votes.

Greater Clark County Schools leaders reported rising enrollment and stronger fund balances, outlined a plan to move funds to rainy-day reserves, and urged trustees to monitor pending state property tax proposals that could reduce local revenue.

At its Jan. 14 reorganizational actions the Michigan City Board of Zoning Appeals elected Ricky Jackson chairman, Deborah Vance vice-chair, appointed Kathy Stransky secretary, and voted to hold a public workshop on Feb. 11 following the regular meeting to develop rules and procedures for the board.
Greater Clark County Schools, School Boards, Indiana
The Greater Clark County Schools board approved a districtwide adjustment of elementary school attendance boundaries that will move small numbers of students among Franklin Square, North Haven, Parkwood, Pike and Riverside to rebalance enrollment and reduce ELL transportation routes.
Dearborn Heights, Wayne County, Michigan
The council approved routine agenda items and several staff recommendations, removed some claims from payment pending additional backup, approved two planning-commission appointments and multiple rezonings, and authorized administrative contracts and renewals. The meeting also produced several follow-up items to be returned to future meetings.
