The full story
The Douglas County Transportation & Infrastructure Committee reviewed and approved the proposed 2027 Highway Department budget on Sept. 2 and referred it to the Administration Committee. Committee materials and discussion indicate the proposed budget anticipates higher transportation aid, increased permit revenues and bond proceeds for road projects, offset in part by decreases in state and federal construction funding and County Aid to Bridges levy requirements. Expenditures account for higher insurance and contracted service costs and adjustments in heavy construction funding; the budget was presented as balanced with a zero-dollar bottom line.
