Kupuna council distributes meals, documents intake data as homelessness persists

Council members say they have distributed hundreds of meals, built relationships with encampment residents and recorded intake data: about 260 intakes, roughly 70% Kanaka and 25% kupuna; some are DHHL waitlisters.

Members of the Wai'anae Moku Kupuna Council described an outreach operation that pairs meal distribution with relationship‑building in encampments. "We've teamed up with my brother's keepers and they they prepare us 400 meals and we go out and we distribute the 400 meals," Lina Spain Suzuki said.
