Board grants variance for CenterPoint Energy gas main crossing over James D. McCarty Relocation Arm

The Drainage Board approved a variance request from CenterPoint Energy to install a gas main along Southeastern Parkway that crosses the James D. McCarty Relocation Arm. Staff explained the regulated drain invert sits approximately 12 feet below grade and a standard installation per County Detail C‑5 would place the pipe about 18 feet deep; the petitioner proposed locating the gas main above the regulated drain, at roughly 9 feet above the drain invert, because an installation below the drain was not practicable.
