The Mendon Planning Board on Sept. 16 continued the public hearing on a special-use permit for an equestrian/stable operation at the Buggy Whip property after extensive public comment and late filings from opposing parties. Applicant representative Matt Elder told the board the proposed use is limited: boarding by private boarders, an indoor arena bookable in discrete blocks, and a cross-country course available seasonally from June 1 through Sept. 30 with a maximum of four riders per block. Elder said the operation’s purpose is to cover upkeep costs and that no lessons or large events are planned.
