Committee approves stopgap increases for treatment courts after state awards fell short

Court staff said state grant awards came in below the applications; Ways & Means approved reallocating local opioid-grant funds to provide $3,500 to Journey Court and $9,000 to the Veterans Treatment Court as a stopgap while pursuing statewide reallocations in mid-2026.

Court administration told the committee that awards from the State Court Administrative Office were smaller than expected and that, as a result, local programs are short funds for programmatic expenses. "...I'm recommending that we do the stop gap increase to get us through to that time," the court representative said.
