Drainage construction underway in four River Ridge sites; tree removals planned

District Engineer Charlie Krebs told the Board that all four drainage sites are under construction, with silt fences in place, sod piles staged at Turnberry and pipe installation scheduled in Oak Run for the week of June 29, 2026.

Krebs said Palmetto Dunes will likely be completed by the end of the week and that "a total of twelve affected trees in Palmetto Dunes will need to be removed and replaced; most are slash pines, and two are red maple trees." He added that six Cabbage Palms must be removed and replanted in Oak Run and that sod will most likely be installed in Turnberry and Palmetto Dunes the week of July 2, 2026. Staff will monitor irrigation and the district is tracking additional costs including a Passarella pre‑construction environmental review required by the South Florida Water Management District; unexpected A/C coolant line repairs will come from contingency.
