The select board and residents pressed the chief for more detail about day-to-day staffing, overtime, and mandatory holdovers after the boat-fire briefing. "9 personnel on duty is the minimum staffing," Chief Poloncie said, explaining that standard represents three personnel at each of the three stations. He described recent staffing challenges, noting there were two vacancies and three long-term injuries at the time of the meeting, and said the department issued conditional offers to two firefighter-paramedics that morning.
