The Platte County Planning and Zoning Commission voted to incorporate data centers into the county's land‑use code and to require any proposed data center to apply for a special‑use permit. Laura Bookout, speaking for county planning staff, told the board: "The intention is to incorporate data centers basically so we can end up requiring a special use permit. If 1 were to come before us, they would have to apply for a special use permit for approval."
