County Home reports resident census, staffing gaps and recent maintenance fixes

County Home Superintendent Greg Brown told commissioners Sept. 8 that the facility’s current census is 44 residents and two adults are enrolled in day care. Brown said the facility has staffing vacancies — two full-time second-shift aide positions and one full-time third-shift aide — and that one-third of a third shift remains filled since the last report. A new custodian began the previous week.

Brown reported two significant maintenance issues had been resolved: the facility elevator, down for nearly two weeks, was restored by maintenance staff; and the fire control system, down for a similar duration, was brought back online through combined efforts of environmental controls and maintenance personnel. He also described donations received at the county fair, including livestock and monetary gifts, and noted the county contributed partial processing fees for swine; the fair’s grand champion was purchased for $15,000.
