Commission issues negative determinations for septic upgrade near Spectacle Pond
The commission granted Negative 3 and Negative 6 determinations for a Title 5 septic upgrade and MicroFAST treatment unit at 33 Newman Road, conditioned on removal of a brush pile; the proposal includes relocating a well to meet setbacks from Spectacle Pond.

At the Sept. 16 meeting the commission reviewed a request for determination to replace a failing cesspool at 33 Newman Road with a Title 5 sewage disposal system and a MicroFAST alternative treatment unit. Bridal Grady of GAF Engineering told the board the project is a routine septic upgrade required because the existing cesspool is too close to site wells; Grady said the cesspool will be filled, a new 1,500‑gallon pump chamber installed and the leach field located to meet setback distances from Spectacle Pond and an adjacent agricultural ditch.
