Parents press council on rental point system after student citations

A parent warned that the borough's 3-4-5 point rental-license system can lead to eviction of an entire unit at 10 points; borough staff explained points attach to the unit's license, there is adjudication and corrective-action processes, and council said the ordinance is under review by the public-safety committee.

At the public-comment portion of the Sept. 16 meeting, Marie Pepe told council she and other parents only recently learned about the borough's updated rental point system and said citations assessed to individual tenants have put entire houses at risk of losing their rental license.
