Council discusses $4.5M Phase Two water improvements as first-priority CIB application

Staff proposed a roughly $4.5 million Phase Two water system improvements package — upsizing six-inch lines to eight-inch, looping dead-end mains, and adding a dedicated feed to the 5-million-gallon storage tank — and recommended requesting a 70% grant/30% loan from the CIB as the city's higher-priority application.

Public Works Director Keith Despain presented Phase Two of Vernal's water system improvements to be submitted as a CIB application. Despain described three primary components: replacing aging six-inch distribution lines in the 600–650 North area with eight-inch mains to reduce repeated breaks; creating a waterline connection on the east side of the City between Main Street and 135 South to loop dead-end lines and improve service to 1500 East; and constructing a dedicated feed to the City’s five-million-gallon storage tank to improve circulation and provide redundancy.
