Residents urge clearer Commercial/Industrial definitions and buffers from homes

Public commenters at the Aug. 26 town hall asked that the General Plan and town code clearly define Commercial and Industrial zones, place those zones along Highways 189 and 40, and create buffer areas to protect adjacent residential properties.

Multiple residents and speakers urged that the General Plan and updated code include clear definitions of Commercial and Industrial zones and specify what uses may lie between those zones and residential areas. Chip Polvoorde advised the town to revisit how zones are defined and to explicitly lay out transitional uses; Kim Norris noted that Commercial and Industrial zoning has been concentrated along Highways 189 and 40 to keep the town interior agricultural and residential.
