Rec center costs climb as ADA and engineering needs push bids higher; security entrance RFP ongoing

Commissioners reported higher-than-expected bids for the recreation ("wreck") building and noted ADA compliance and additional engineering requirements are driving costs; the security entrance remains out to bid and a generator purchase is on hold pending an energy-savings analysis.

Commissioners said bids for the recreation center renovation came back higher than budgeted and that some items will be broken out to reduce cost or pursued through grant match. The Moyer contract returned a higher bid; staff and the architect are reviewing alternatives and details to cut nonessential finishes and identify grant matches with the Mi Foundation to fill shortfalls.
