Select board hears update on Spring Hill culvert; bidding set for late January

Matt of the Windham Regional Commission told the select board the town is holding this meeting as part of the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant requirements and that construction documents have been submitted to VTrans. "We're required to hold this meeting as a part of the TAP grant funding that the town received for this project," he said, and added the project is expected to go out to bid in late January with construction beginning in the spring and completing in summer.

Board members asked for specifics about the project location, temporary traffic routing and costs. Matt said the plan calls for a temporary closure of Spring Hill Road for two to three months with a detour via Livermore Mills Road, Win Hall Hollow Road and Route 100, and that the town has acquired necessary easements and right-of-way clearances. He noted the town requested an additional $300,000 in TAP funding that would "basically top it off," and that VTrans is in the process of allocating funds; the board discussed informing Spring Hill residents once a contractor is selected. The board emphasized advance signage and direct resident notification before the closure.
