Program coordinator introduces Salem Keizer Safe Routes to School and flags unsafe crossing

At a committee meeting Jacob Lippert, the new program coordinator for Salem Keizer Safe Routes to School, described hands-on bike, pedestrian and transit education at 11 local schools and raised a specific safety concern at the Chemawa–McLeod crossing where students are 'mad dash[ing] across the street.'

Jacob Lippert, who introduced himself as the new program coordinator for Salem Keizer Safe Routes to School, outlined the program's education-first approach and local work at area elementary schools. "My name is Jacob. I'm the new program coordinator for Salem Keizer Safe Routes to School," he said, describing bike-skill classes, pedestrian-safety lessons and bus-demonstrations aimed at reducing stigma and improving safe travel to school.
