Elbridge board says solar array process could take years; moratorium, planning cited

Supervisor Richardson and councilors reported a meeting with the Office of Renewable Energy; board members said the process for a proposed solar array could take about a year before the Town is approached and up to two years for the full process, and a moratorium is in place while a comprehensive plan is developed.

During the communications portion of the May 8 meeting, Supervisor Vernon Richardson and Councilor Doug Blumer reported meeting with representatives from the Office of Renewable Energy for information about a proposed solar array. Town officials said the meeting was informational and that the process is lengthy: they were told it could be "possibly a year before the Town is approached and two years before the whole process has gone through." The minutes note that the Town currently has a moratorium in place and will use the time to develop a comprehensive plan to guide any future project.
