County counsel presented code revisions to implement a transition to a five-member Deschutes County Board of Commissioners; with no public testimony the board approved first reading by title only and directed staff to add seniority language for succession by second reading.

County counsel Dave Doyle told the Deschutes County Board of Commissioners that the ordinance before the board would amend chapter 2.04 of county code to provide for the transition to a five‑member board. He said the draft replaces the phrase “commissioner office” with “commissioner position” to match how ballots will list seats.
