Rotary asks city to back 'Dementia Friendly Chelsea' certification

A Rotary Club member and Silver Maples CEO asked the council to endorse a task force effort to make Chelsea a certified dementia-friendly community and to promote training and business engagement for that certification.

Holly Ridenour, CEO of Silver Maples, told the council she was speaking on behalf of the Rotary Club of Chelsea, which is spearheading a task force to get Chelsea certified as a dementia-friendly community by Dementia Friendly America. "An effort to establish Chelsea as the next dementia friendly community in Michigan," Ridenour said, explaining the project would train businesses, churches and parks to interact more effectively with people living with dementia and their caregivers.
