Council approves future land-use map and density changes, reducing some multifamily densities

Council approved amendments to Chapter 5.5 (land use and density) and Chapter 5.7 (future land-use map) of the city's comprehensive plan. Staff said the update reconciles previous discrepancies between the FLUM and zoning/PD approvals; the measure passed 4–1 after questions about notice, consistency and commercial preservation.

Director of Planning and Development Services (referred to in the record as Miss Bester) presented the proposed amendments to the comprehensive plan’s future land-use map and associated text changes. The presentation explained that prior zoning and PD approvals had not been reflected consistently in the FLUM, and staff proposed adjustments to better align the map and text with approved PDs and the council’s prior direction.
