Broadband task force reports 252 locations open and contractor change; project due Dec. 2026

County staff presented an update on the Frontier‑led broadband deployment funded through the Robin Grant. Staff said the contract calls for service to 3,297 grant locations and is scheduled to be complete by the end of December 2026. As of July 21, 2025, staff reported 252 locations were listed as "open for sale" and that 96 households had subscribed; during the update the speaker corrected a percentage mid‑sentence (transcript shows both '30%' and '38%' when describing the subscription share of available locations).

Commissioners asked whether a vendor change delayed work; staff said the prime subcontractor was replaced and that construction sequencing (bringing in source fiber first, then building access) explains part of the timing. Staff said Frontier projected roughly 1,817 locations would be completed in the next two to three months (remainder of July through September). No formal action was taken; the board accepted the update and offered to schedule project shadowing with Guidehouse staff.
