Committee briefed on New York State mandates that will affect county benefits (2027)

Apr 2, 2026

Staff informed the committee about New York State mandates effective Jan. 1, 2027 — including no-cost replacement inhalers and no patient cost-sharing for certain lung cancer follow-up services — and said CDPHP will provide pricing and implementation details.

The full story

Staff told the committee that several New York State mandates taking effect Jan. 1, 2027, will require coverage changes that could affect county-sponsored plans: no-cost replacement inhalers, coverage of transvaginal ultrasounds (already covered by CDPHP), and elimination of patient cost-sharing for certain lung cancer follow-up and diagnostic services. Staff noted that CDPHP will return pricing and implementation impact information to the committee.
