Council amends sewer code to clarify exceptions for pre‑2018 connections

The City Council approved an amendment to Monroe Municipal Code 13.08.240 on Sept. 15 clarifying the city’s prohibition on extending sewer service outside the city limits. McKenna Olsen of Public Works presented the proposed ordinance (010/2026), which adds language specifying the prohibition shall not prevent an increase of existing sewer capacity for customers whose lawful connection to the city’s sanitary sewer system occurred prior to Feb. 28, 2018.
