Mary Richthammer read Article 4 proposing $12,000 to be raised by taxes for the Rutland County Sheriff’s Department. Jeanne Kirbach asked whether the $12,000 was the only cost. Nathan Hewitt explained that "the $12,000 was removed as a line item in the budget and presented as an article to be voted on," and said the town only receives a limited number of sheriff hours per week depending on hourly rates.
