Blodgett Memorial Library proposes 2,500‑sq‑ft addition to add elevator, restrooms

Amy Arjurakis of KARC Planning told the Fishkill Planning Board she is representing the Blodgett Memorial Library and presented a site plan for a 2,500‑square‑foot addition to the library at 37 Broad Street.

Arjurakis said the addition would include a new lobby, an elevator to provide ADA access to all levels, four single‑fixture restrooms in the new portion, and a small local history room. She told the board the parcel is 0.32 acres and that the application package — including an Environmental Assessment Form (submitted Sept. 3), renderings, paint samples and site plans — had been provided to the village and that paint samples were supplied to OPRHP. "It'll provide an elevator which will provide ADA accessibility to all the levels," Arjurakis said.

Village planner Sarah Brown told the board the project qualifies as a Type 2 action under SEQR because it is an expansion under 4,000 square feet and therefore requires no further SEQR review; Brown also noted the applicant provided an effect‑finding letter from OPRHP (dated July 18, 2025) stating there would be no adverse impacts to historic or archeological resources. Board members asked whether the addition would increase visitor counts and how parking would be handled; a library representative estimated about "200 people a day."
