Committee approves $372,000 contract with Mass Insight to support CSI schools and district systems

The Pawtucket School Committee approved a Q2–Q4 contract with Mass Insight for $372,000 to continue external support for district capacity building, Slater Middle School redesign and expanded direct work with five CSI-designated schools (Shea, Tolman, Gough, Slater and Jenks).

Jamie Cameron, engagement manager for Mass Insight, told the committee the firm has two primary staff supporting Pawtucket and would add 0.333 FTE under the expanded scope. Cameron described monthly on-site support, professional learning for principal cohorts, and work to align instructional walkthroughs and professional learning communities with the district strategic plan. The contract includes $30,000 for travel-related expenses and $342,000 for program services and staffing. Committee members asked for measures of progress; Cameron proposed monthly headline reports and quarterly metrics tied to attendance and implementation milestones.

Committee members expressed support but requested careful monitoring of outcomes; Deputy Chair Kimberly Grant said she would like progress reports and clarified that third-party oversight (Ride) would also review the work. The motion to approve the contract passed on a roll-call vote.
