New York Public Library asks Community Board 4 for capital, tech and security support

Francis Burrows, senior manager of government and community affairs for the New York Public Library, told Community Board 4 the library reopened the Muhlenberg branch and has seen strong use from residents — more than 60,000 visits since last August — and that NYPL is requesting $250,000 in FY28 capital funding for technology and security upgrades at the Columbus and Muhlenberg branches. “That 250,000 would cover Columbus and Muhlenberg,” Burrows said, describing tech replacement on a three‑year cycle and work to replace cameras and access systems.
