County staff said the Kansas Department of Agriculture/Division of Water Resources drafted updated floodplain maps using 2‑D modeling and announced two open houses: May 6 in El Dorado and May 27 in Andover. The county will later propose Article 18 zoning updates incorporating the new maps.

Planning staff presented an update on a multi‑year project to refresh Butler County's floodplain mapping, noting the county's effective maps dated largely from 2009 and some PMRs from 2020. Staff said the Division of Water Resources produced draft maps dated March 6, 2026, using 2‑D modeling to better capture tributaries and surveyed structures.
