The Somerville City Council unanimously approved a resolution expressing solidarity with striking workers at Encore Boston Harbor after testimony from local union stewards and workers who said high resort profits haven't translated into fair pay or benefits.

The Somerville City Council approved a resolution on Sept. 10 backing workers on strike at Encore Boston Harbor and urging residents and organizations to honor picket lines. Councilor Jesse Klingen introduced the resolution, which cites the workers' demands for fair wages, maintained health care and job security and asks Encore/Wynn Resorts to negotiate in good faith.
