Human Services warns of 2026 budget shortfall, requests three positions
Human Services staff told the committee they are over budget for 2026, requested three positions (two for Comprehensive Community Services and one grant-funded quality control role), and said state funding will cover additional Food Share staff through 2027.

Human Services staff told the Sauk County Health & Human Services Committee on July 28 that the department is over budget for 2026 and is preparing options to avoid a repeat in 2027. Jessica Mijal, speaking for Human Services, said the department will hold a budget meeting next week to identify adjustments.
