Steger mayor asks state for disaster declaration after repeated flooding
Mayor William Joyce told trustees he requested a State of Illinois disaster declaration and help from Rep. Anthony DeLuca to secure emergency assistance, engineering support and funding for drainage improvements, culverts, roadway reconstruction and other flood mitigation projects following repeated floods affecting homes and infrastructure.

Mayor William Joyce opened the board’s mayoral report by describing repeated flooding that has damaged homes, businesses and public infrastructure across the Village of Steger and said he has submitted a formal request to the State of Illinois and to Representative Anthony DeLuca seeking a disaster declaration and outside support.
